Wish it were that easy! Sadly (and not surprisingly), it's just another urban legend. http://urbanlegends.about.com/od/medical/a/swine_flu_facts_onions_and_flu.htm

The best way to avoid the flu (especially the most serious ones)? Wash your hands after touching public door handles and other external surfaces before you put those hands near your (or someone else's) mouth, nose, ears or eyes. And, if your body tolerates it, get an annual flu shot. It only protects you against 3 or 4 flu viruses each year, but these are the most dangerous viruses threatening the general population.

If you don't keep your hands washed properly (at least 20 secs of soaping, rubbing and getting under your fingernails), you're still at risk for seasonal flus and colds.

By the way, how many germs may be lurking on your keyboard right now? :p
